In Hotel Fleur de Ville, faint echoes of bygone eras can be heard in every corner and crevice, as this building used to be a thriving banking institution in the 19th century. Once a bustling hub of financial activity, the hotel’s walls resonate with the energy of past transactions and dealings that used to shape the economic landscape of Brussels.

From the grandeur of the lounge to the intimate nooks of the guest rooms, remnants of the building’s banking heritage add historical intrigue—inviting you to step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich past of this iconic building.

Chronicles of architectural history

Our establishment was once home to the Caisse Générale d’Epargne et de Retraite, an 1850s national savings bank—explaining the building’s exceptional charm and meticulously crafted meeting rooms. The project was placed in the capable hands of eclectic architect Henri Beyaert. Construction took place between 1889 and 1893, with assistance from architect Paul Hankart.

From 1910 to 1918, the Beyaert building was expanded by French architect Alban Chambon, who added the prestigious entrance and the corner turret. The iconic building was restored in 1990. Today, it stands as a testament to the skill and vision of its architects, continuing to inspire awe and admiration.
